Message From The CEO

Welcome to the Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services Website.

The Institute has undertaken various technical improvements to its IT infrastructure. These improvements include an advanced Student Management System. These improvements have enabled members of the Institute to access a number of services online, such as online membership and examination registration, online access of examination results, online payments, online discussion forums, etc. You are encouraged to download brochures from the downloads section of this website to get more information on the courses and programmes offered by the Institute.

The Institute is also an accredited examination centre for the ACI-Financial Markets Association Examinations. All  registrations for ACI Examinations take place via the ACI FMA main website.  You can find the link here: https://acifma.com/exam-centers. From this site, you can choose which country you would like to take the exam in.  You will then receive a confirmation email.  Within 48 hours, you will receive your invoice and registration confirmation. Otherwise please contact education@acifma.com.  More information on the ACI examinations can be obtained from the ZIBFS Secretariat.

The Institute is engaged in a number of activities to enhance information sharing in the financial sector. On 18th February 2017, the Institute successfully held its Graduation Ceremony at the New Government Complex in Lusaka, under the theme, "Developing World-Class Professionals". The Institute congratulates all its students who made it to the graduation list and wishes them well in their future endevours. Hon. Prof. Nkandu Luo, MP, Minister of Higher Education officiated at the event as the Guest of Honour.

The Institute wishes to thank all its corporate and individual members, and the general public who attended and/or supported the 2017 Annual Ball (Gala) Dinner which was successfully held at the Hotel Intercontinental on Friday 17th March 2017, under the theme, "Fiscal Fitness through Financial Inclusion". The Institute is also very grateful to the Minister of Finance, Hon Felix Mutati, MP who graced the event as Guest of Honour. Many thanks are also extended to Dr. Denny Kalyala (Governor of the Central Bank of Zambia & Patron of the ZIBFS), and Dr. Tukiya Kankasa Mabula (Deputy Governor-Administration), who attended the Annual Ball, and were both conferred with Honorary Fellowships of the Zambia Institute of Banking & Financial Services. The Annual Ball was well attended several guests, including some very high profile delegates who included, among others, Mr. Cephas Chabu (President of the ZIBFS ), Mr. Charles Mudiwa (Chairman – Bankers Association of Zambia & MD of Stanbic Bank), Council Members of the Institute, and various Bank Chairpersons, Bank Managing Directors, and CEOs of other Institutions. The Institute congratulates Corporate Award recipients at the Annual Ball, who included Cavmont Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Zambia National Commercial Bank.
 
On 22nd September 2017, the Institute held its 3rd Banking & Finance Conference at Hotel Intercontinental in Lusaka, under the theme, “Enhancing Financial Inclusion through Digital Financial Services – Implications for Sector Players”. The conference was well attended by local and international delegates from both the financial sector and other related sectors. A number of Institutions also exhibited at the Conference including Bank of Zambia, Barclays Bank (Z), Stanbic Bank (Z), NAPSA, ZCAS, and RUFEP, The Institute is also very grateful to the Minister of Finance, Hon Felix Mutati, MP who graced the event as Guest of Honour. Other events held to date include the Annual General Meeting held on 29th June 2017, the Public Discussion Forum in May 2017, and a number of training courses .

During the remaining part of 2017, a number of other events have been planned. These events include the Finance for Non-Finance Training Conference from 12th-14th October 2017, the Training on Movable Assets & the Collateral Registry in November 2017 in conjunction with the World Bank group and Bank of Zambia, Student Forum, Public Discussion Forum,etc. Full details on these events will be provided in due course. It is hoped that all events will be held successfully, and that they will be well attended.

It is hoped that the Institute will be incorporated under an Act of Parliament in the very near future. This move is aimed at strengthening the Institute's role of promoting professionalism among banking and financial services professionals in Zambia. A stakeholder consultative meeting was successfully held on 5th June 2017, a number of resolutions were made during the meeting.  The amended final draft bill was discussed and adopted at the 2017 AGM. A copy of the draft Act is available on the downloads section of this website for reference.

Members are also welcome to physically visit the Institute’s well stocked reference library. Students and bank employees have all found this library as a useful source of information. The Institute is also open to receiving any suggestions that may help improve its services to its members.

It is the Institute’s hope that you find this website interesting and useful, and that you will access this website on a regular basis to enable you keep up to date with Institute activities and examination timetables.
